A local native found in the wild. American Groundnut, Apios americana. It is a perennial vine that can grow up to 10 feet in length. It’s known for its edible tubers that cab be prepared like potatoes. It is a legume so it can help fix nitrogen
So many great books out there on native plants and landscape design. Two I’m reading now are “Bringing Nature Home” by Douglas Tallamy and Rick Darke, and “Prairie Up” by Benjamin Vogt.
Today while building new beds we found a skink and a baby snake. Love the wildlife.
Nearly every bed is planted. The only flowers left are the dahlia cuttings.
